1st Industry Tour for Educators
- February 19, 2018
With the assistance of Mike McDermott, Principal at Indiana County Technology Center in Indiana, PA – 13 educators from nearby school districts as well as several instructors from ICTC took advantage of the 1st Industry Tour for Educator’s at Clark Metal on Monday, February 19th. The Educator’s tour was made possible thru a grant sponsored by the Tri-county Workforce Investment Board. Participating educators received ACT 48 credits. The goal of the Industry Tour for Educators was to provide a better understanding of the knowledge and skills students need to be successful beyond the classroom. To explore and discover what some of our area businesses and industries actually do on a daily basis. To be better able to assist their students to make the connection between a career goal and educational pathway. Clark’s tour offered a behind the scenes look at the job skills and training that employees require in order to be a successful employee. Educators experienced an up-close and personal look at the manufacturing processes from concept, engineering, manufacturing, detail and shipping. The tour allowed educators to operate a press brake, insert hardware, apply graphics and perform a few assembly operations. The tour ended with each educator assembling the fabricated components into a tool box. Al the participants left with a tool box in hand. The tool box would be a daily reminder of the manufacturing processes and career opportunities that exist in custom sheet metal fabrication. Take a peek at several photos taken during their visit.
